Classification of computer network :

The computer network are classified depending on transmission tecnology and scale.

By Transmission Techniques :

Computer network may be classified as broadcast are point to point network .

By Scale :

The scale or extend of reach of the network . For Example -PAN , LAN , MAN , WAN , CAN .

By Connection Method :

Computer network may be classified according to the technology that is use to connect individual device in the network such as Home PAN , Power line communication , Ethernet or wireless LAN .

By Functional Relationship :

Computer network may be classified according to the functional relationship which exist between the element of the network.

Example : Active network , Cliant server And Peer to Peer Architecture .

By Network Topology :

Computer network may be classified according to the network topology upon which the network is based such as Bus Network , Star Network , Ring Network , Mesh Network , Star Bus Network , Tree Network or Hierarchical Topology Network etc.

By Service Provider :

Computer network may be classified according to the service which they provide such as Storage Area Network , Server Forms , Process Control Network , Value Added Network , Wireless Community Network etc.

By Protocol :

Some network may be calassified according to the communication protocol that is being used on the network .

Classification Of Computer Network :

The computer network are classified depending on transmission technology and scale.

Computer networks may be classified according to the network layer at which they operate according to some basic reference models that are considered to be standards in the industry such as the seven layer OSI reference model and the four layers TCP/IP model. Few ways of classification are listed below.

1. By transmission techniques

2. By scale

3. By connection method

4. By functional relationships

5. By network topology

6. By service provided

7. By protocol

Explanation of CCN

Servers : Servers are faster computer that run various software, store proces information and also provide a human interface for the users to be able to use network computers.

Nodes : Nodes are the computer on the provided to the users to carry out their task using the network.

Work Station : A nodes which are more powerfull and can handle local information processing or graphic processing is called work station.

NOS (Network Operating System) : The network recquirs some software to control all the information transfer activity on the network.

Example : Traffic Police

LAN Software : LAN cable connects all the node and server together to the form of network. Node or a workstation unless their are sertain design or a server.

LAN cable : This is a medium or channel over the information travels from the computer to computer.

NIC (Network Interface Card) : Computer contain a network interface card. This card use to connect the cable to the computer.
